How does it work?
1) Start adding food scraps to the bottom layer
2) When the bottom layer is full, add the next layer on top and continue feeding
3) The worms move up to the food
4) When your third layer is full, the bottom layer is ready to be emptied
5) Move the empty bottom layer to the top and continue feeding
6) Repeat process every 3-4 months to get fresh castings

I’ve been curious about vermicomposting for a while and through the information I’ve found online, The Box of Life seems to be about the best setup there could be. It’s easy to control the moisture level, and already I’ve seen a few baby worms! Akil gives good advice and is ready to answer any questions that may come up - the parenting guide is also very helpful to know how often and how much to feed the worms. All in all I’m completely satisfied with both the product and the Kickstarter experience!
We jumped on the kick starter at the reccomendation of our friend Prema. We have worms and they are in a tote bin and concrete mixing containers this new countertop worm studio held all our worms it keeps them at a healthy temperature and prevents bedding from drying out. They are much happier in their new home and it condensed the space we were using by so much! I can not reccomend the box of life worms studio enough. our non profit farm sanctuary is very happy we made this investment and encourage anyone wanting to be more eco-friendly, start a worm farm, or simply have some super neat pets to invest in a box of life!
This is my second worm bin, I bought the original bins when they first released for sale in the US several years ago. I'm very excited for the new shallow trays and the sturdier bottom pan. Love my wormies!
This worm studio smells fantastic! I am just a few weeks in, but my little worms are thriving! Its such a great way to compost. All instructions are given, and i messaged the owner and got a quick response. This company provides jobs for some who otherwise would have difficulty finding employment.
When we moved last summer, I knew i wanted to plant a garden at our new house. After pricing out really good soil I knew it would not be a sustainable way to grow my fruits and veggies. When i saw this Kickstarter I was immediately intrigued and was quick to back it.
Akil and the Box of Life crew have been awesome. So responsive to questions. The quality and craftsmanship of the worm studio are too notch as is the fit and finish. It is beautiful.
I just got my worms into it today, they seem happy, they are moving and burrowing into the bedding that came with the kit. I'm super excited.
