Here are some things you can do with your castings:
ADD THEM TO YOUR PLANTS
- Use 2 tablespoons per potted plant and you can either top dress or mix it in. A little goes a long way!
- For seedlings and repotting plants, add 20% worm castings to your potting mix.
MAKE LIQUID FERTILIZER
- Prepare worm tea by mixing a handful of castings in 2 L of water and stir occasionally for 24 hours. Sieve the solids out and use the liquids to water your plants like you normally would. It's a great way to add microbes and water soluble nutrients to your plants.
SHARE THE BOUNTY
- Donate extra castings to a friend, neighbour or the nearest community garden so they too can experience the power of worm castings!
- Adopt the trees outside your home and show them some love and care by fertilizing them.
Castings can be stored for a few months in a breathable container (jute bag or plastic bucket with a perforated lid). Ensure that it doesn't get too dry or cold as the microbial activity will cease and it won't be as effective for your plants.

1. ORGANIC MATTER AND NUTRIENTS
Worm castings are rich in organic matter and slow-release nutrients from the food that the worms ate! Whatever you put into your worm bin, comes out in the castings.
2. MICROBES
Castings contain diverse microbial content! Microbes help to break down food and other plant matter in your worm bin. They remain in the castings even when the worms have processed all they can. This means that castings are actually a living organism.
3. PLANT GROWTH HORMONES
Castings also contain plant growth hormones, humic acid, and fulvic acid!
