Of the thousand of species of earthworms, we only know a handful that are good at composting. We recommend two species for our indoor worm farm - red wigglers and european nightcrawlers.
These are not the same earthworms you find in the ground. If you're in Canada, the soil dwelling earthworms are called canadian nightcrawlers or dew worms. They're not good at composting and if you add them to your worm bin, you won't see results.
