Our February's featured artist to paint the ugly worm bin is Rachel and the proceeds will be donated to Hidden Harvest Ottawa, as per Rachel's request.


Hidden Harvest Ottawa is run by a team of staff and volunteers who rescue edible fruits and nuts from Ottawa's trees that would otherwise go to waste. Nature can provide for us - we just need to know how to find it and Hidden Harvest does exactly that. I love that they also advocate for the city to plant more fruit trees on public land (which isn't happening because rotting fruit on the ground is an "eyesore". sigh). Wouldn't it be wonderful to walk around your neighbourhood and pluck fresh apples, peaches, and pears from the trees? That's democratising food for all and we should encourage that, don't you think?
