🌱 How It Works
Red wiggler worms (Eisenia fetida) live in the Worm Studio and eat your food scraps. As they digest, they produce worm castings, a nutrient-rich fertilizer for your plants.
The Worm Studio has three stackable layers. As you feed the worms, they naturally migrate upward, leaving finished compost (castings) in the bottom layer for easy harvesting.

My family and I have had our worm bin for about a month now, and we’ve been throughly enjoying every moment of the journey. Sometimes it can be hard to get out and feel connected to nature especially during the winter months in Canada — our Worm Studio has helped immensely with that. I would highly definitely recommend the Box of Life to anyone living in the city or suburbs, where nature is not always accessible to everyone. Our Worm Studio has become a hot-topic of discussion of every guest that has entered our house since we got it, and we are thoroughly impressed with how easy it is to care for and maintain.
Akil and his team take every step to ensure that you are successful. We very much appreciated that he took time out of his busy day to deliver the box to us personally (within the city). It just shows how much he stands by its craftsmanship and its mission. We love how this organization truly represents community-based sustainable living. Thank you Akil & team! You guys rock.
I'm absolutely loving my new Worm Studio from The Box of Life! It's such a clever little system that makes composting indoors actually enjoyable. The design is sleek enough that I don't mind having it in my kitchen corner, and surprisingly, there's zero odors despite what's happening inside that box.
Setup was super straightforward, and while I'm still waiting for my first batch of compost (these things take time!), I can already see the worms happily processing my kitchen scraps. The instruction booklet was really helpful for a beginner like me.
I appreciate how the stackable trays make harvesting easy when the time comes, and the moisture management system seems well-designed. If you're looking to reduce food waste without a garden or outdoor space, this is definitely worth checking out. Can't wait to see my houseplants thriving with homemade worm castings in a few months!
Great product and amazing service
Was pleasantly surprised by the quality and well built craftsmanship. Can't wait to start making some black gold!
We have had our worm studio for a little over a month now. It is easy to maintain and there is no smell from the box. The worms are eating steadily and soon we'll be able to move them into our second layer. The instructions in the 'parent guide' were clear and easy to follow. I recommend this product to everyone I speak to. Great way to reduce our kitchen waste and I love the fact it is made in Canada by a Canadian company.
